Eureka Nevada was founded in mid 1800's as a silver-lead mining town. As word spread of the riches in the mountains surrounding Eureka the town started to boom, with mining as the main industry. This attracted nearly 10, 000 people who then resided in Eureka. While these people were flooding in Eureka High School, the Sentinel Museum Building, the Eureka Courthouse, the Colonnade Hotel, and the Opera House were all built. The riches ran out and Eureka turned into a historic remote town, the people left but most these buildings and old downtown still stand as part of Nevada history.
